Fix Your Thoughts

We are almost through the first month of the year, and some of us are still having trouble letting go of things out of our control.

So much has happened in the last year. So much.

Some of us are still caught up in what should be, what could have been, and whose fault it is. It can become a very unhealthy cycle of negativity. Each of us is responsible for our own attitudes. We are accountable for what we say and do, not what other people say or do.

I read something that speaks to this the other day.

“Instead of murmuring about the situation you are in or waiting for the right circumstance to come along, start being accountable in every situation that God places you in. When you learn to give your best at all times, you will please God. And when God is pleased, He will surely bless you. Choose to be accountable irrespective of place, time, or the people watching.”

Philippians 4:8 says, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

No more choosing social media over God's word. No more choosing the news over God's word. No more choosing theories over God's word. No more choosing anything over God's word.

There is such beauty and love and hope for us to hold onto, if only we make a conscious decision to find it. Inside every difficult situation, hope can be found. Jesus alone is all the hope we really need. When nothing else seems to go right, we can know His love for us makes all the difference. It changes everything. He holds us all in His righteous hands.

What are your thoughts fixed on?
