This Is Not How It's Supposed to Be.


 This is not how it’s supposed to be.


Though He has allowed it through the practice of free will, This is not what the Lord intended for His people. Death and violence have become commonplace and expected. Hopelessness and fear abound throughout our country. Yesterday, many parents struggled to put their kids on a bus, or drop them off at school. Others will never take their kids back again.


The evil one specializes in fear. 


He knows how to infiltrate our hearts and minds through the words and actions of others. His influence is strong. Because it is so easy for any of us to fall prey to his purpose (1 Peter 5:8), it’s important to stay armored up. Instead of working ourselves up into a frenzy of fear by focusing on all the horrific details, let's set our eyes on the God of peace.


“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:8-9‬ 


Hold tight to His promises. 


I know what it feels like right now, but He will never leave you or forsake you. When you are in the depths of the darkness, instead of panicking, be still and listen for His voice. If you are struggling to hear Him, you can find Him in His Word. “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:10‬ 


John 16:33 tells us that in this world we will have trouble. Isaiah 54:17 says that “No weapon formed against you shall prosper…” That promise to Israel applies to God’s children today. We know weapons have and will continue to form, but they will not prosper. We, as God’s people can be a part of their failings. 


Continue to love. Fight for peace. Hold on to hope.



“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13


He is for you.
